The Australian Group of AIPPI is delighted to invite submissions to the 2023 AIPPI Australia Essay Prize.
The Prize: The Prize consists of complimentary registration at AIPPI’s 2023 World Congress, which is to be held in Istanbul in October 2023, together with return flights and accommodation. Each entrant will also receive a year’s complimentary membership of AIPPI.
The winner of the 2022 Essay Prize, Anna Klepacki, said “The AIPPI Australia Essay Prize was a great opportunity to research and critically consider a complex IP law question, and then to travel to the AIPPI Congress to debate the question, and many other IP law issues, in person with lawyers, patent attorneys, and other IP professionals from around the world. It gave me the chance to see my work published, and it was a fantastic way to advance my professional skills, knowledge, and networks.”
Submissions: Essays should be substantive original works of no more than 10,000 words and should address one of the topics, or an aspect of one of the topics, chosen for study at AIPPI’s 2023 World Congress. The topics this year are:
AIPPI’s Study Guidelines set out detailed backgrounds for each of these topics, and can be downloaded by clicking on the above links. Submissions should not simply answer the questions set out at the end of each of the Study Guidelines. Rather, submissions should explore the subject matter, or an aspect thereof, introduced and discussed in each of the Study Guidelines, by reference to Australian or international law.
Due Date: Entries are due by 31 March 2023, and should be submitted to the Secretary of the Australian Group at secretary@aippi.org.au. Each entry should be accompanied by an abstract of no more than 300 words.
